Adventure Through
Costa Rica
2024

With well-protected national reserves and an unparalleled diversity of wildlife, Costa Rica is the jewel of Central America. The Arenal region showcases a volcano, hot springs, and a broad range of flora and fauna. In Monteverde, tour the greenery of the Santa Elena Cloud Forest, then in Manuel Antonio National Park, keep your eyes open for sloths, toucans, and howler monkeys.

Group Leader: Shauna Campbell

The students from the Costa Rica Tour had an action-packed trip full of many once-in-a-lifetime experiences. For a number of them, this was their first time on a plane and/or first time away from their parents.
The tour started with an afternoon of snorkeling at the beach, and a river boat ride searching for tropical birds and crocodiles. We traveled to the Arenal region where we hiked in the rainforest and to La Fortuna waterfall coupled with some rainy weather that didn’t allow us to see the volcano but made for a memorable experience learning about local flora and kayaking in Arenal lake ending with swimming in natural hot springs.  We then traveled to the cloud forest where the weather cleared up and we got to see a beautiful view of Arenal volcano in the distance and we enjoyed zip lining though the mountains and saw local fauna like coati, howler monkeys, toucans and butterflies.  After the cloud forest we traveled to the coast to Manuel Antonio national park to enjoy the beach and came face to face with iguanas, white faced monkeys and sloths. We then traveled back to the capital, stopping at a chocolate farm and coffee plantation ending with an exciting white water rafting experience.
Our tour was jam packed with exciting learning opportunities and we know the students are eager to share their experiences with you. You can see more on instagram @tornadotravelers. We hope you enjoyed your vacation as well!!
